I have had ennui.  It maybe showed?

But I have been to the gymnasium, which always helps, and I have eaten spinach, ditto.

And though I have not done a little dance, nor in fact, made a little love, I did indeed get down last night.

The sweater A l'Orange is no more.  But I still love the yarn.  So it is enjoying a refreshing swim.  We will see if it recovers.

The Jo Sharp Desert Garden Sarong that has been on hiatus since July of of 2004?
Gone, gone, gone.

This one I never liked - the color, while pretty, was not what I wanted.  I wanted dandelion, or parakeet, not garnet.  Anyone want it?  8 untouched balls, plus at least 8 in this giant recovered skein.  There's also a little handful of 12 or 14 inch bits that were going to be the fringe - since this was loosely knit I changed balls at the edge and trimmed the fringe-useful lengths as I went.  If you're interested, I'll weigh the lot and guesstimate the yardage.  First comment to claim it gets it.  I'll even pay the shipping, that's how happy I am to have this out of my house. (It was about a month from becoming a great and terrible new god of retribution.) (Reference?  Anyone?)

I feel better already.  (I still need to finish something before beginning something else, but that final sleeve is looking totally manageable right now. And then?  Cables.  I'm thinking cables.)

Oops. I. did. it. again.

I had a terrible thought.

While I was gloating over my new pile of Bergamo - pardon me, I mean considering whether 15 balls is enough for me to do anything with - I was struck by something.

Bergamo knits at about 14 stitches to 4" - ordinarily this violates my no-bulky-yarn-unless-you-want-to-look-like-a-bulky-girl rule, but it is very drapey and doesn't read bulky and also I love it vera, vera much, and as with  men, all rules are suspended in the face of this kind of love, this we all know.

But it is 66 yards per ball @ 3.5 stiches to the inch. That's under a thousand yards, about 450 short of what I need for a sweater.   This is why I bought the black too.  Always with the thinking.

But in considering all this, I looked at the half completed sweater a l'Orange, on hold these 12 months.  And I am getting the bad feeling.  Looking at the IK project information, it calls for 26 balls for the largest size.  Which is what I started, because, yo, I always need the largest size.

Except that the largest size is 54" very stretchy inches around.  Now, part of the charm of this design is the swing.  But that is 6 inches of ease.  Next size down is only 1 inch of ease.  My only excuse is that I started knitting it before I had fully grasped the issue of fit, or begun to understand that I do not, in fact, always need the largest size.

What should I do?  Keep going and be prepared for huge?  Rip with yarn that does not like the ripping in the first place and has been sitting knit and folded for a year and begin again a size smaller?  Whimper?

Other opinions required on whether or not anyone can think of an attractive way to knit this in two colors:

Didn't think so.

Too bad - it would be the perfect match.
